Job Description

Assignment at the new Falcon Center Building

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Types accounting and financial statements, payrolls, statistical tabulations and data, memoranda, vouchers, reports, requisitions and other materials;
  2. Reviews accounts, reports and other documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformity with established procedures;
  3. Indexes and files all documents and correspondence;
  4. Searches, locates, and records papers and documents;
  5. Assembles a variety of data from office records for incorporation into various reports;
  6. Prepares payrolls and maintains time cards;
  7. Composes and types routine correspondence;
  8. Assists in proofreading typewritten and printed material;
  9. Answers telephone, gives routine information to the public and makes appointments for supervisor;
  10. Operates a calculator, photocopier, and computer;
  11. Transcribes material from Dictaphone;
  12. Collects and maintains records of fees collected by the office;
  13. Assigns lower ranking employees to duties which assist teachers, parents, and students;
  14. Performs related work as needed.

Job Qualifications

Must be a current competitive Senior Clerk Typist, on a valid competitive Senior Clerk Typist list or willing to accept a provisional appointment and be one of the top three eligible on the next valid Erie County Civil Service list.  

 

       1.   Must have passed the Competitive Civil Service Examination and must be one of the top three reachables on a valid Civil Service List;

  1. Must have knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment;
  2. Must have working knowledge of and some experience with computers;
  3. Must have knowledge of business arithmetic and English.
  4. Must have the ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions;
  5. Must have the ability to type from a clear copy or rough draft at an average rate of speed;
  6. Must possess clerical aptitude, sound judgment, neatness, tact and courtesy;
  7. Must be in physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
