Provisional Appointment *Understand and leverage the connection between nutritious food and learning *Support cook manager in schools in order to launch tasting, cooking and food exploration opportunities as well as menu development based on the feedback and experiences of students in those activities for use in the school cafeteria in coordination with the school cafeteria personnel. *Work with faculty and students to maintain on-campus gardens and provide hands-on learning experiences; including overseeing youth and community volunteers during summer months. *Develop activities and programming to support farm to school; assists with the development and coordination of farm to school promotional activities in the school cafeteria, including taste testing activities and providing Harvest of the Month resources. *Coordinate activities between school food-based entities, ie. homestead garden, wellness committee, and community-based food entities including our local farms market, local farmers. This could include school/community events such as local food day or iron chef, farm visits or other related interactive field trips. *Designs Farm to School outreach materials for use in teacher, parent and community communications; maintains database of event pictures *Provides articles for newsletter *Maintains the website or other modes for outreach *Pursue grant opportunities to assist in continued funding for the program *Establish and/or support a larger farm-to-school committee *Speak in a variety of classrooms regarding Farm to School topics such as composting, gardening, sustainability, vocations, etc. *Required to travel to and from work sites |
