Job Description

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepares and cooks food for meals and other functions;
2. Supervises all kitchen personnel;
3. Assists in the training of food service helpers;
4. Applies all principles set forth in HEALTH DEPARTMENT regulations;
5. Prepares and cooks special dietary meals;
6. Supervises the cleaning, sanitizing and usage of equipment used in food preparation;
7. Requisitions supplies when needed;
8. Completes data forms required by State and Local regulators;
9. Completes paperwork required by School Lunch Manager;

      10. Performs related work as needed

NOTE:  Serves approximately 120 breakfasts and 625 lunches per day

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  High School diploma and/or high school equivalency diploma;

2. A minimum two (2) years experience as a cook or a substitute cook in a public or private institution preferred, one year of which must have involved the preparation of food in large quantities;
3. Must have good knowledge of modern methods of equipment used in the preparation of food in large quantities;
4. Must have the ability to prepare and cook food in large quantities;
5. Must have the ability to read, write and do basic arithmetic;
6. Must have ability to supervise the work of others;
7. Must possess the characteristics of cleanliness and initiative;
8. Must be in a physical condition that commensurate with the demands of the position;
9. Must be available to work extra functions, i.e., banquets, luncheons, etc.;
10. Must have certification in Sanitation Training.
