Teaching Assistant - Blasdell 8:1:1
Awareness of and willingness to collaborate with the special class teacher to assist in planning and providing instruction, interventions and research-based support for students with behavioral and social emotional needs. Must have a strong knowledge of instructional strategies and research-based interventions to address the needs of a diverse group of learners, with a strong emphasis in reading, writing and math skills. Must also have knowledge of and ability to implement positive and effective behavior management strategies to coordinate instruction with the special class teacher.
Some examples of responsibilities to include but are not limited to:
Supporting reading, writing, and math lessons to students with moderate/severe disabilities,
Reinforcing lessons delivered by teacher,
Reinforcing behavior plans implemented by teacher,
Helping to progress monitor students’ IEP goals and collecting behavioral data
Maintaining classroom routines
