PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Assists in supervision and maintains order in study halls, corridors, recreation areas, parking lots and other school facilities and grounds before, during and after school hours;
  2. Monitors buildings and grounds to prevent vandalism, theft and illegal entry;
  3. Guides students in safe practices inside and outside the school building;
  4. Reports any unusual or suspicious circumstances to building administration;
  5. Monitors school grounds to detect unauthorized persons, vehicles or gatherings;
  6. Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, calling building administration for assistance when appropriate;
  7. Make written reports when needed or requested;
  8. Assists School Resource Officer, school nurse(s) or teachers in the event of a medical emergency;
  9. Assists students with special needs;
  10. Performs other related work as assigned by the high school principal or designee.

CLASSROOM

  1. Assists in maintaining a classroom environment that will help students focus and remain on task.
  2. Assists with individuals or groups who need drill in a particular skill or content area.
  3. Follows student behavior plans consistently and firmly and assists in the record keeping necessary to maintain the individual behavioral/academic plan for each student.
  4. Assists teacher with the preparation of instructional materials.
  5. Supervises independent student work.
  6. Assists teacher(s) at arrival and dismissal times as needed.
  7. Helps keep supplies and materials in order and ready for use.
  8. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  9. Does related work as assigned.

PERSONAL CARE

Assists with individuals or groups who need drill in a particular skill.

2.   Prepares instructional materials.

3.   Supervises independent student work. 

4.   Arranges bulletin boards.

5.   Obtains, sets up, operates and returns instructional materials.

6.   Duplicates and collates instructional materials.

7.   Reading and storytelling.

8.   Assists in the record keeping necessary to maintain the individual educational plan for   each student.

9.   Assists at arrival and dismissal times both at the loading area and in the building.

10. Assists sick or injured children who should be taken to the health office.

11. Helps keep supplies and materials in order, helps prepare supplies and material for use; cleans up and puts away materials after their use.

12. Guides in the movement of children in Music, Art and Physical Education.

13. Cares for individual child with soiled clothes or behavior problems.

14. Cleans individual children as the needs arise.

15. Assists student in cafeteria if required.

16. Physical condition to commensurate with the demands of the position.

17.       Does related work as assigned.
